Are you looking for a project to get stuck into in your spare time? Do you want to give back to your community and develop your skills?
We’re looking for a volunteer to lead our 10th annual Christmas Hamper Appeal. This is a wonderful project which encourages members of the public to donate a Christmas hamper to someone who’s struggling financially. Leading the project involves working with a range of charity and public sector organisations across Cambridge, managing volunteers and overseeing the delivery of Christmas treats and some everyday essentials to our beneficiaries in time for the festive period. You’ll be supported by Foodbank staff and volunteers throughout and get a full induction to get you settled into the role.
Role requirements
You’ll need to be able to give between two and four hours a week to the project between August and mid-November, and up to 8 hours a week until mid-December. In mid-December when we collect and deliver the hampers, you’ll need to be available for up to 4 full days, and at least one evening. The timing of the deliveries can be somewhat flexible to suit you, but an essential part of the role is being available for roughly 4 full consecutive days in mid-December.
You’ll need to be confident managing people, arranging meetings, working with a spreadsheet, writing promotional material, and doing some heavy lifting of up to about 10kg.
