Volunteers are the driving force behind foodbanks. There are thousands of volunteers across the UK, helping The Trussell Trust Foodbank Network get emergency food to people in crisis. Our volunteer force of over 110 people are loyal and turnover is low but we do have immediate opportunities for volunteers in some specific roles. The positions we are seeking at the moment are shown below.
We have a vacancy for a driver for our delivery van on Monday mornings. This is a transit van and can be driven on a regular car license. You are required to have a clean license and be able to load and unload crates of up to 20kg. The van delivers food to our distribution centres and collects from supermarket collection points.
Thursday Warehouse Team
We need people to join our new Thursday afternoon warehouse team. The work involves weighing in and sorting food donations, and packing the food boxes that go out to our distribution centres. You need to be reasonably fit and active and able to lift crates of up to 20kg.
We are establishing a new team of people that can connect our clients to organisations that will help them get back on their feet. We are looking for volunteers who can offer a few hours a week and commit to learning and working to gains the skills and knowledge needed. We need people who expect to remain in the role for at least two years so that the training can have maximum benefit. If you have past experience in advocacy or feel you have the gift to learn and the ability to commit, please consider this role. The ability to help our clients navigate on-line web sites is essential.
