Volunteers are the life blood of foodbanks. Your skills could be just what we need.
Volunteers are the driving force behind foodbanks. There are thousands of volunteers across the UK, helping The Trussell Trust Foodbank Network get emergency food to people in crisis. Our volunteer force of over 110 people are loyal and turnover is low but we do have immediate opportunities for volunteers in some specific roles. The positions we are seeking at the moment are shown below.
We have a vacancy for drivers for our delivery van, especially on Friday afternoons and Monday mornings. This is a transit van and can be driven on a regular car license. You are required to have a valid license and be able to load and unload crates of food. The van delivers food to our distribution centres and collects from supermarket collection points.
We have openings for volunteers in our distribution centre at St Paul’s Church on Hills Road. We are looking for people to join the team on Monday afternoon, from 16:00 to 17:30, or Friday afternoon, from 14:30 to 16:30. The role involves welcoming visitors, helping them pack their food parcel and signposting to local agencies where they may be able to get further help. You must be comfortable working with clients and be able to use a tablet computer. The role involves some lifting.
We also have an opening at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Arbury. We are looking for somebody to join the team on Thursday morning, from 11:00-1:00pm. The role involves welcoming visitors, packing their food parcel and signposting to local agencies where they may be able to get further help. You must be comfortable working with clients and be able to use a tablet computer. The role involves some lifting.
We have openings for volunteers in the Friday morning warehouse team, between 9.30 and 1.00. The role involves sorting and packing food parcels to go out to our distribution centres. You must be reasonably fit as the role involves lifting crates of food.

The role involves checking incoming stock and replenishing the shelves, cleaning the chiller cabinet and checking dates and condition of stock. We will arrange for you to do Level 2 Food Hygiene training.
