Volunteers are the life blood of foodbanks. Your skills could be just what we need.
Volunteers are the driving force behind foodbanks. There are thousands of volunteers across the UK, helping The Trussell Trust Foodbank Network get emergency food to people in crisis. Our volunteer force of over 110 people are loyal and turnover is low but we do have immediate opportunities for volunteers in some specific roles. The positions we are seeking at the moment are shown below.
We have a vacancy for drivers for our delivery van, especially on Monday mornings. This is a transit van and can be driven on a regular car license. You are required to have a valid license and be able to load and unload crates of food. The van delivers food to our distribution centres and collects from supermarket collection points.
Our Fairbite Food Club (www.fairbite.org.uk) needs additional people to help in the shop on Tuesday mornings. You need to be available between 10am and 1pm. The role involves working as part of a small team, welcoming members to the shop, recording their visits on the computer system and helping members with their shopping. You need to be reliable, confident with computers, and able to work with people.
