Volunteers are the life blood of foodbanks. Your skills could be just what we need.
Volunteers are the driving force behind foodbanks. There are thousands of volunteers across the UK, helping The Trussell Trust Foodbank Network get emergency food to people in crisis. Our volunteer force of over 110 people are loyal and turnover is low but we do have immediate opportunities for volunteers in some specific roles. The positions we are seeking at the moment are shown below.
The distribution centre is the heart of the Foodbank where people come to collect food boxes. Are you compassionate, non-judgmental and well organised? Can you handle and lift our crates of foods (typ. 10-15kg)? If so, you could have the satisfaction of meeting genuine people and making a difference to their lives. Most roles are on a specific day for a 2 hour slot but we also need a Roving Cover Volunteer who can be flexible to fill gaps in the rota. Being comfortable with using a computer tablet will be an advantage as our administration is moving towards on-line operation.
We are establishing a new team of people that can connect our clients to organisations that will help them get back on their feet. We are looking for volunteers who can offer a few hours a week and commit to learning and working to gains the skills and knowledge needed. We need people who expect to remain in the role for at least two years so that the training can have maximum benefit. If you have past experience in advocacy or feel you have the gift to learn and the ability to commit, please consider this role. The ability to help our clients navigate on-line web sites is essential.
