Volunteers are the life blood of foodbanks. Your skills could be just what we need.
Volunteers are the driving force behind foodbanks. There are thousands of volunteers across the UK, helping The Trussell Trust Foodbank Network get emergency food to people in crisis. Our volunteer force of over 110 people are loyal and turnover is low but we do have immediate opportunities for volunteers in some specific roles. The positions we are seeking at the moment are shown below.
We have a vacancy for a drivers for our delivery van. This is a transit van and can be driven on a regular car license. You are required to have a clean license and be able to load and unload crates of food. The van delivers food to our distribution centres and collects from supermarket collection points.
Thursday Evening Warehouse Team
We need people to join our new Thursday evening warehouse team (5pm-8pm). The work involves weighing in and sorting food donations, and packing the food boxes that go out to our distribution centres. You need to be reasonably fit and active and able to lift crates of food.

Our Fairbite food club (see: www.fairbite.org.uk) is expanding to offer chilled food. We need a volunteer to help with managing the chiller cabinet. You need to be available on Thursday mornings from about 11:30 – 1pm. The role will involve checking the temperature logs for the chiller cabinet, checking the stock in the cabinet and disposing of out of date stock, cleaning the cabinet and updating records.
Level 2 Food Hygiene training will be provided. You need to be reliable and confident with paper-based and computer-based record management.
