Get Involved

Volunteer

Volunteers are the life blood of food banks. Your skills could be just what we need.

Volunteer Opportunities

Thank you for your interest in helping us. Our volunteers are vital to all we do, and there are lots of different roles available if you’d like to join our team. Download a Volunteer Application Form here, complete and send to [email protected]. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Warehouse volunteer

Warehouse teams are essential to emergency food provision. You’ll be sorting donations and packing crates for delivery to our Welcome Centres. You need to be reasonably fit and able to help lift crates weighing up to 20kg.

Welcome Centre volunteer

Volunteers in Welcome Centres do the vital work of greeting our visitors, exchanging their vouchers with an emergency food parcel, and offer a listening ear to anyone who wants to stay for chat. You’ll need to be confident working with members of the public, and helping people who may feel stressed or anxious. As our visitors are offered a hot drink when they arrive, good tea-making skills don’t go amiss either!

Fairbite shop volunteers

Our Fairbite shops are stocked and staffed by volunteers. This could be a role for you if you like working with people and working in a shop. You’ll need to be confident handling cash and using a computer.

Administration volunteers

We have a small number of volunteers who help out with administrative tasks on a weekly basis. If you’re good with emails, numbers or spreadsheets then this could be for you.

Supermarket collection volunteers

If you want to help boost donations to the foodbank, but aren’t able to commit to at least a few hours a month, consider helping out at a supermarket collection. As a supermarket collection volunteer you would speak to shoppers and hand out shopping lists with our most needed items.

Volunteer drivers

We rely on volunteer drivers to ensure that food gets to where it needs to be.

Please note that we are unable to take volunteers who are under 18.
